Texas 4-H Natural Resources Program Calendar-Post Your Local/Invitational Events for All to See!!

Many of you are in the process of organizing and promoting local and invitational events related to Texas 4-H Natural Resources project areas including Shooting Sports, Wildlife, Sportfishing, and WHEP. To support you in this process the state office would like to refresh everyone on procedures for sharing events on the Texas 4-H Natural Resources Program Calendar. Please use the calendar to share events, direct club and event managers to the calendar for their use, and direct families and individuals to the calendar to see available events.

The Natural Resources Program Calendar enables you to share information about your 4-H Natural Resources project related events and view information about State 4-H Natural Resources Program events, local events, and invitational events.

Follow the links from the Natural Resources Program home page (texas4-h.tamu.edu/natural) to the calendar and the calendar sharing instructions (how to post your own events). Note: to see the calendar in a list view rather than by week or month, click “Agenda” in the upper right corner of the calendar screen.

Please let us know if you have any questions or trouble using this resource! Email tx4hnaturalresources@tamu.edu

Wildlife Identification Resource

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Texas Wildlife Identification Guide is a good basic resource for general identification of some of the most common wildlife species in our state.  This is a good resource to use with kids in our 4-H Wildlife Habitat Education Program, 4-H Hunting and Wildlife Program, 4-H Outdoor Challenge, 4-H Wildlife Challenge and the events associated with each.  Its also a handy pocket sized (when printed) resource to carry on a hike, on a hunt, on a fishing trip, or just driving down the road.

Check it out.  This guide is also posted on our webpages under the 4-H Natural Resources Program website.  Look for more resources to be posted soon that will help keep your kids involved.

4-H Extravaganza Information Packet

This document will guide you through the information and options regarding the 2013 4-H Extravaganza to be held April 20th at the Texas 4-H Conference Center.  Click here to view that document.

4-H Extravaganza has been held for the past 28 years.  It began as and still is an event to provide beginning shooters the opportunity to try most any of the competitive matches that occur through the 4-H Shooting Sports project.  This event not only provides that opportunity to 4-H shooters but also allows a new coach to see how a competitive event is set up and how to prepare their youth to participate.

Check out the document linked above and let us know if you have any questions.
