2014 Wildlife Habitat Education Project State Contest

The 2014 State Contest for the Wildlife Habitat Education Project (WHEP) will take place on June 14-15, 2014 in College Station.  The exact location will be provided following registration.  Registration will take place on 4-H Connect from April 24-May 22.
 
The contest will follow the 2014 edition of the Wildlife Habitat Education Program Manual which will be available on the Texas 4-H WHEP webpage (http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/project_wildlife/whep) or by clicking here to download the entire manual.

The 2014 State Contest Rules and Procedures will be posted soon which will supersede the rules and procedures in the Manual to compensate for our three age divisions; Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. The 2014 State Contest will use the Southeast Mixed and Outer Coastal Plain Forest region in the Manual.

4-H Shooting Sports Extravaganza 2014

The 2014 4-H Shooting Sports Extravaganza is coming up toward the end of April.  This event held at the Texas 4-H Conference Center on Lake Brownwood is designed for members of 4-H Shooting Sports projects across the state who would like to learn how our 4-H Shooting Sports competitions are run.  Extravaganza participants and coaches learn this by hands-on activity in a specific competitive event.  Each event is set up like an actual competition that will allow shooters to go through a course of fire.  The 2014 Extravaganza Handbook is available by clicking on this link.

Federal Ammunition .22 Cartridge Program

Wildlife Workshops Available Through Texas Wildlife Association

Opportunity for Discounted Archery Target Purchase

Arrangements have been made by a 4-H Volunteer Leader, Miles Willis, for the discounted purchase of archery targets (52" Round FITA Butts) from American Whitetails, Inc. Specifically the AR -152 model (http://www.archerytargets.com/152mat.aspx). This target is normally $310.95 each. Mr. Willis has coordinated with the owner of American Whitetails to sell them to 4-H for $239.95 each.

In order to minimize shipping costs and share this discount opportunity, he would like to extend invitation to other 4-H groups to participate. Target +approx shipping  $239.95+$50=$289.95

Targets must be ordered through Mr. Willis. They will be shipped to Taylor County, and arrangements made to get them to the other programs (arrange to meet half way, bring to events, etc.)
