Registration for District 2 Shooting Sports Coach Training OPEN!

The District 2 4-H Shooting Sports Coach Training will be held in Lubbock on June 1-2, 2013.
This training will provide certifications as Certified Coaches or Assistant Coaches in the selected disciplines including archery, pistol, rifle, or shotgun.

Registration for this training will be on 4-H Connect. Registration will close on May 22, 2013.
No late registration will be allowed. Anyone interested in registration must be currently enrolled in the 4-H system.

The cost of the training/certification is $120 per person which covers training, curriculum materials, ammunition, and two catered meals.

Who:
The training is open to anyone across the state with the following requirements. All applicants must be enrolled in the 4-H system. Certified Coaches must be currently 21 years of age or older. Assistant Coach certification is available for those 14-20 years of age. Assistant Coaches are not allowed to be the primary coach during any local youth training and must always operate with a Certified Coach present. Assistant Coaches automatically upgrade to Certified Coaches upon their 21st birthday.

For those interested who are not currently enrolled as volunteers, a Youth Protection Standards background check must be completed prior to enrollment which can take several days to process. There are many substitutions for the background check including a current Concealed Handgun License (CHL) which will expedite this process and negate the fees.

Work closely with the local county Extension office to complete the enrollment, background check, and registration processes.
